Expected Results
- Creation of a broad national network of LAs for forest fire prevention
- Participation of at least 50 Greek municipalities in the national network of LA’s for forest fire prevention.
- Exchange of information among the project partners during the project meetings and at web-site and e-forum
- Establishment of a National Working Group in Greece about forest fire prevention
- Participation of approximately 12-15 organizations in the National Working Group in Greece
- Participation of 15-20 members from different organization in the National Working Group in Greece
- Formulation of a list with the most cost-effective measures for forest fire prevention, specially designed for the Greek cities, this list will have at least 15 measures.
- Examination of the feasibility of the different measures in the participating local authorities
- Identification of the priority sectors by focusing on forest fire protection measures according to the local needs of each municipality
- Development of 6 local action plans for the participating local authorities
- Production of guidance documents for all the Greek cities, based on the priorities identified. 500 guides and 200 DFF – Risk CD’s will be produced.
- Development of a simplified Informative System (DFF – Risk) that can be widely distributed and operated by under-resourced LAs
- Operation of the Informative System for the Dynamic Assessment of the Forest Fires Risk by the 6 participating Municipalities.
- Widely distribution of the DFF-Risk System and Guide to other Greek Cities which will be available for downloading from the project’s website.
- Equipment of staff with the necessary skills to implement the local action plan for forest fire prevention and operation of the Informative System, approximately 20 municipal representatives will be trained.
- Transferring of best practices about forest fire prevention to Local Authorities
- Exploration of the possibilities for the development of similar initiatives in more 50 other Greek cities
- Raising Environmental awareness in more than 100 Greek Local Authorities about forest fire prevention
- Wide dissemination of project outcomes to Greek Local Authorities - all the Greek Municipalities will receive the project’s newsletter electronically.
- Involvement and Awareness of Central Governmental authorities to the process of forest fire prevention in LAs La’s – at least 4 Central Governmental authorities will be involved to the Expert Working Groups.
